Emergency Relief

This program is funded through the Commonwealth Department of
Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs

The program is designed to help those who are
suffering from financial hardship
A case manager is employed to assist clients
and by supporting the clients through this programme,
opportunities will be enhanced for people to move forward


This service is available to all, not just Centrelink clients
It is not a substitute for Centrelink payments
Clients are given a full assessment of their needs and can be
supported once every 3 months if necessary



Appointments must be made by contacting the
Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre on Tel: 07 3379 6963 for
assessments which are conducted every Wednesday morning




Requirements for application

Applicants must live within the centre's geographical service area

Graceville
Jamboree Heights
Jindalee
Middle Park
Mt Ommaney
Oxley
Riverhills
Rocklea
Seventeen Mile Rocks
Sherwood
Sinnamon Park
Tennyson
Westlake

We assist people from outside these areas who do not have an
Emergency Relief agency nearby but they must have a written
referal letter from another organisation or government department

Also required is
Personal identification showing current address e.g.
Drivers Licence
Centrelink Card
Health Care Card



Assistance Provided

The client may receive support by way of food vouchers or
help to pay some accounts e.g. Telephone, (land line only)
Rent, (paid to recognised rental agency)
Pharmacy prescriptions, School books and uniforms


Free bread is always available on Tuesday mornings
